Thrifty Twosday

Today I'm mentioning two drugstore products again that I use and have repurchased.  Keep this in mind for future that we will never mention any items that we haven't used and don't love.

First off is the Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo.  This comes in 2 types.  One for oily/straight hair, and one for dry/curly hair.  I use to the one for straight hair and for the price you really can't beat the results.  When you use this product you must make sure that you follow the directions and shake it every time you spray otherwise you will end up with white flakey hair.  And it can be brushed out but it's much more of a hassle.  Also you don't want to spray too much because you really don't need a lot.  This product is perfect for those of you who want to refresh your hair after working out without washing it or for those of us with color treated hair (like me).  Washing your hair too much will definitely fade the color quickly so dry shampoos can take you through more days in between washing.  The one for curly hair is more of a foam so the directions are a bit different but if you do get that one make sure you follow those directions too.  After you use this product it will make your hair more matte looking (that is the point) but if you use a shine serum or a shine hairspray just add a bit of that after and you're good to go.  There is a spray you can get from Tresemme to use after this dry shampoo but I just use what I already have.

Next is the L'oreal Lineur Intense felt tip eyeliner.  This product WILL dry out after a while, so you will have to get another one once it starts to get a little flakey when applying but it is a really good liquid eyeliner.  The felt tip gives you a good amount of movement without being too much.  It also gives you the ability to make a very fine line or a very thick line depending on how much pressure you use.  It's very comparable to other high end brands that have felt tip liquid liner pens and I believe I paid 2 dollars and something at Target for mine so it's MUCH cheaper than say one from Lancome.  I've repurchased this product about 3 times now since I discovered it, and I plan to keep doing so!

Finally a New LOTD

Summer is finally on it's way here in Washington!

It's been a while! So sorry about that but things have been hectic, and although I have lots of looks to show you, it's hard to do with just yourself, even with a tripod (I only have a small one), but my photographer (aka husband) will be coming home shortly (finally) so that will make things much easier.  They aren't the best pictures but I did the best I could.  Thanks for being patient (as always).  You guys and gals are fabulous!    This is the dress I wore to church today and I pretty much live in dresses in summertime so you'll be seeing more soon!

Here is a better shot of the sandals I paired it with.  Cream colored like the dress with shell embellishments.

Paired with a green sweater and crossbody bag....

And the perfect summertime accessory...sunnies!

Dress:  H&M $19.95
Sandals: Alloy $9.99 (Bamboo)
Sweater: Wal-Mart clearance $5.00 (George)
Shoulder bag: Thrifted $2.00
Oversized sunnies: Alloy $2.99

Sassy and sweet for under $40.00, and I will be living in this dress this summer.  It's SO lightweight and feminine!  It's perfect for picnics, walks, Sundays at church, and anything else you can dream up.  The umpire waist makes it flattering for all accentuating the smallest part of your torso.

Question for the readers:  Do you like when we post the prices or do you want us to just post where we got it and what the brand is?

Thrifty Twosdays

Along with occasionally posting some of our many thrifted items we find on these days we will also use this time to talk about inexpensive items we love. Today we spotlight:

Maybelline's Dream Matte blush in Peach Satin.
Absolutely adore this blush. Goes on so smoothly and I've found myself turning to this most days. I especially love it when applied with a skunk brush.

L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara in Blackest Black.
Givenchy has a similar one (I haven't personally tried) with the same kind of shaped applicator for about 4 times the price. This one is only like $8 so it's much kinder on my wallet. It's much easier to get all of your eyelashes with this applicator. The downside is that the wand is very bendy (and could break easily if you are rough with it), and it's not super great at giving you a ton of volume but it does lengthen pretty well. It also does dry a bit and flake a little if worn for a very long time but I really don't notice it often-and I've worn it quite a bit for long lengths of time. The blackest black is also not as black as I would like but maybe they will remedy that in the future. All in all it's a great buy-one that I don't regret at all.

If you have any items you would like us to try, or would like to let us know about, feel free to send us a comment or email.

Pretty in Pink

I've been on the search for the perfect "barbie pink" lipstick. A matte pastel pink lipstick that would be perfect for spring and summer. The new one from MAC was an obvious first choice:

....but I don't live close to a MAC currently and didn't want to order it. I decided to try to find one comparable that was cheaper, sort of an adventure if you will. Well I think you can call it a success!!

[here I am wearing it with a clear gloss on top]

Rimmel had what I was looking for and I wanted to share it with you! It's from their moisture renew lipstick line; the color is pink chic and the number is 220. It's creamy and highly pigmented and the color seems to stay put for quite a while, especially layered over a nude lip pencil.

Some of you youngsters have prom coming up soon so if you are looking to be pretty in pink, this is your color.

[without gloss]

This pink is perfect for just about any look and it's so pretty and feminine. The best part: it won't break your bank! I paid $5.74 for it and if you can get a coupon, even better!

Everyday makeup look turned night

Remember our every day makeup tutorial? Well here is how you will take it from this:

To this:

If you've followed all the steps in this post and you're headed to a night on the town with the girls, or maybe a hot date here is what you need:

1. A pencil eyeliner preferably (waterproof kohl is great-but any that smudges well)
2. An angled eyeliner brush or an eyebrow brush (one that is a little more stiff and thicker than a normal eyeliner brush) I used a MAC 266 but use what you have.
3. More mascara!

All you need to do is line the top part of your lash line. Remember don't pull your eyelids to do this, just go across with light strokes and start in the middle and work your way out, then work your way in. Don't worry if it isn't perfect! Go along the bottom lash line and remember to make sure in the corners it connects to the line you made across the top lash line. You don't want any huge gaps. Go over this with your angled brush lightly smudging the lines upward. If you have a black eyeshadow you can fill in any holes if you'd like. Do this along the bottom lash line smudging downward. Line your lower waterline and add some more mascara if you'd like. Now you're ready to go!
